‘Something Special’s Going On !’ Zine

Over the past couple of weeks we’ve been busy creating a brand new edition of Rob’s latest zine, ‘Something Special’s Going On!’ in blue and brown.

The first edition of the zine went online and sold out almost immediately! Those who bought one were automatically included into a prize draw to win an original papercut of the fold-out poster. This poster, which is only revealed when the zine is unfolded, is a screenprinted version of the original papercut.

Here is Rob cutting this out, once complete the papercut was then used to expose the artwork onto screen ready for printing onto the reverse of the zine, you can find out more about this process here.

The finished papercut was then sprayed blue to colour it and then mounted onto a white backing board before it was ready for the prize drawer!

The lucky winner was the lovely Zuzu and here is a photo of her with Rob when she came to collect her prize from our studio.

Here is a look at the folding process involved in putting the zine together…..

Once printed the zine is very carefully folded and a small cut is made along the middle fold. This allows the zine to be folded into a book format, we use a bone folder to crease the paper which helps to ensure a neat fold.

The new edition is signed by Rob in an edition of 100.

The zine opens out to reveal the fold out poster in red.
